Deepika Padukone, the successful and beautiful Bollywood actress was suffering from depression at one time, and she has defeated it.
In a bold article published in Hindustan Times, she reveals that most of the shooting of Happy New Year happened during this stage, and she explains how getting up every morning was a challenge for her.
Pretty interesting article, considering that how every movie she did in last 2 years was a super hit, and how confidence she appears in media coverage and in reel life.
Heck, she even fought back against Times of India and forced them to think hard on their stupid editorial decisions.
She explains the problem with depression, compared to other physical diseases, which can be seen and felt:
“Being sad and being depressed are two different things. Also, people going through depression don’t look so, while someone sad will look sad. The most common reaction is, ‘How can you be depressed? You have everything going for you. You are the supposed number one heroine and have a plush home, car, movies… What else do you want?’ It’s not about what you have or don’t have. People talk about physical fitness, but mental health is equally important. I see people suffering, and their families feel a sense of shame about it, which doesn’t help. One needs support and understanding.”
Hats off to Deepika for coming out, and sharing her incredible fight against depression. She has decided to help others, who are facing depression, and the plans would be revealed very soon.
The fight is on..
