CollegeDunia Receives Rs 1 Crore Angle Funding from Investors Led by Gaadi.com’s Founder

India’s one of the most reputed search engines for courses and colleges: CollegeDunia.com has successfully raised Rs 1 Crore angel funding from investors led by Umang Kumar, who is the founder of renowned automobile information portal Gaadi.com.

As per reports coming in from various sources, it has been revealed that the fresh funding would be used to enhance their technological platform, and to enable listing of more colleges and more courses into their portal.

Along with Umang Kumar, there are a bunch of other unnamed investors as well who have trusted CollegeDunia’s vision and mission.

Sahil Chalana, founder of CollegeDunia shared with VCCircle that their goal is to improve technology, operations and marketing of their portal, and make it more robust and fast. Their goal is to add 7000 to 8000 new colleges in their database, along with thousands of coaching institutes, polytechnic institutes and details of all major entrance exams held in the country.

In short, CollegeDunia aims to become the Zomato of the Education Industry.

As of now, they offer comprehensive and in-depth information of 700 colleges spread all over India. Students can get factually correct information about the fees structure, courses offered, details about entrance exams, career opportunities, admission criteria and details about hostels as well. In terms of information provided, there are very few such portals which can match CollegeDunia.

Right now, the portal attracts around 1 lakh unique visitors every month, and after this fresh round of funding, they are aiming to increase this number to 10 lakh in the next 6 months. The funding will also be used to expand their current team, which includes 30 employees in verticals such as content, technology, marketing and customer care.

As per Sahil, they will be hiring 40 more employees in the next 6 months.
